Suggestions????

I am in need of some advice and direction....

3 months ago, or so, Bree was released from Early Intervention. She did not go without a fight that's for sure! She had so many pulling for her- her PT/OT and speech therapist were fighting the system, so to speak, to get her into the pre-school. After her test came back and she was just a few point above the lowest qualifying score, it was ultimately decided that she would not continue. I was upset at first but then realized that it was going to be okay and we would figure something out.
Since then my hubby got accepted into grad school (YAY!!!!!) and we have moved to Utah County (Provo to be exact). I told myself I would let Bree have a really fun therapy free summer- and we would pay for it later. School is starting in the area, meaning summer is coming to an end. So it is time to "pay for it" I guess. I am feeling a twinge of guilt due the fact that I am not the one that will really be paying for it; it was a nice break for her. However, she has really fallen behind and even regressed a bit. {BAD MOM!!!}

I have looked into a few programs in the area but I am wondering where to go, as we are new to the area and Early Intervention still isn't an option. I have checked into the Now I Can Foundation- Thanks for that post. And that could be a possibility for her, but it will be a pricey one for us.... Any ideas or thoughts?

Thanks! And Welcome to the the new Moms! I am excited to have you here!

I wish I had ideas for you. I am at a loss with my own two kids as well. Makes things sooo stressful. I hope you find something that works for Bree. Good luck!!

I do have a suggestion, and I was actually going to do an entire post about it after I did a little research. I still will, probably next week though. I need to get some answers to a few questions first. So, I guess I'm not terribly helpful. We had lived in Provo and I was quite active in the Early Intervention family (PEEP). It was mainly behind the scenes stuff. When we moved to Washington, they called me to ask me to write a few letters because their program was gettitng cut?! Woa. I'm not sure what ended up happening there...but if EI is out of the question anyway, I guess that won't help. Now I Can, I have some questions about myself. I know they offer financial aid, but that's for the intensive program, I'm not sure about weekly therapy. Oh, I shouldn't even leave a comment. I'm no good to you am I? Good luck. I'll ask around and investigate...see what I come up with.

Ok, first...I did some quick looking up. What will your insurance cover? How many PT/OT sessions per week? Per year? Do you have student insurance, or state? It's possible, that you can go to Now I Can using your insurance benefits. I have also been looking into doing a fundraiser for our Sammy for some therapy. I have some ideas there too...so maybe you can throw something together (like it's that easy) to raise some money. I don't know. Utah County may be harder because there are a lot of students there and young families.

I believe you can have your daughter retested even though your Early Intervention agency/preschool program said she wasn't eligible. In Provo, you can have her retested/evaluated by the preschool program every six months.. my daughter wasn't eligible when she was transitioning from Early Intervention, but barely sqeaked in when we had her tested at 3.5 yrs. I also would recommend that if you do choose to have her retested for preschool, to take her in tired and hungry.:)
